Kisses - People Can Do The Most Amazing Things
I’m starting to think this style of music is becoming a trend. First, Twin Shadow. Now these blokes. What is it? Over on their Bandcamp Los-Angeles based band members Jesse Kivel and Zinzi Edmundson call this ‘disco’. Um, no. I’m not feeling particularly creative this afternoon, but do y’all have any ideas? In any case, its hot shit.
They say, “the single is released August 2nd through This Is Music on 12” in the UK and 7” in the US , it comes backed with an exclusive Pete Wiggs remix and also a Sun Airway Edit. The US 7” comes backed with the Pete Wiggs remix.”

I wrote an article about Kisses earlier this year after first seeing them perform at Origami Vinyl. Los Angeles’ Jesse Kivel and Zinzi Edmundson are a boyfriend-girlfriend duo who make music that I would only classify as “disco” in the sense that they are both romantic ventures-disco was all about desire and romance, qualities Kisses’ music clearly evokes. It’s hazy, slowed-down dance music, heavy on cutesy drum machine and keyboard roles as well as heartbreaking lyrics about, what else? Love.
P.S. You may recognize Jesse from another project, a tropicali/afro-pop/often-likened-to-Vampire-Weekend LA band, Princeton.
P.P.S. Pat Grossi, aka the genius behind Active Child, remixed one of Kisses’ singles, “Bermuda.”
